About Shine Somatic Therapy
There is wisdom in the body.
A Personal Journey
Jennifer’s Story

In 2012, while pregnant with my daughter, and needing to find an alternative to martial arts, I stumbled into prenatal yoga. After classes spent quietly focusing on the present moment with my body, I felt more calm and centered. This realization led to my taking a mindfulness course and becoming certified as a yoga instructor. Some significant life transformations arose and I leaned into yoga, mindfulness, and studying psychology and neuroplasticity to support my growth. As the pandemic hit and my work as an art history professor became fully online, I took the opportunity to steer my career path in a new direction. Occupational therapy was the right fit because the discipline embraces a holistic approach and views healing as an active partnership. My dream job found me right out of grad school and I became a pelvic health specialist . Over thousands of hours of clinicial work, I saw how much of a difference my somatic approach made in my clients recovery. My individual strengths, life experiences, educational background and personal philosophy all came together. I had found my calling. In deciding to dedicate myself to this style of therapy, I launched Shine Somatic. I welcome you to join me for a healing journey of your own.
